Zoom Security Changes Go into Effect Today at 6 pm

Dear Baruch Community,

To help ensure the online safety and security of the University community, at 6 pm today, the CUNY Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) will enforce the following Zoom settings:
* A passcode will be required when setting up all Zoom meetings (scheduled, instant, and personal) and Zoom webinars.
* All Zoom meeting and webinar attendees will be required to enter the passcode to access the meeting.
* The use of the Zoom waiting room will be enforced to validate attendees.

These changes apply to all CUNY users and can not be overridden individually or by campus.

Impacts to Open Meetings
We anticipate that these security changes may necessitate a different approach to open meetings, such as support sessions or open houses that allow visitors to drop in. BCTC is currently recommending that those hosting these meetings require registration and publicly post the registration link instead of the open meeting link. This approach will also allow Baruch offices holding Zoom office hours to get their clients' email addresses for follow-up services.

The above changes represent the full enforcement of the current CUNY policy on securing Zoom meetings<https://www.cuny.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/page-assets/about/administration/offices/cis/it-resources-for-remote-work-teaching/Zoom-Security-Protocol.pdf> and is in response to continued meeting disruptions ("Zoombombing") across CUNY.
