Baruch South Campus Heat Update

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

We are providing an update to our October 13 communication regarding South Campus heating. The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) continues to work toward supplying Baruch’s South Campus with a temporary boiler that will provide heat to the Field Building at 17 Lexington Avenue, the Administration Building, and Newman Hall.

Due to a delay in obtaining necessary permits from several municipalities, the original timetable is revised. Pending the required permits, Baruch is now being advised that the earliest the temporary boiler will be in full operation is Wednesday, Nov. 1. We know this is less than ideal, but everything possible is being done to expedite this request.

What to Expect

  * Until the arrival of the temporary boiler, temperatures in South Campus buildings will fluctuate based on outside temperatures. Please dress accordingly.
  * All employees should continue to work with your managers and supervisors regarding appropriate work accommodations.
  * At this point, we do not anticipate any classroom instruction to be disrupted.

We will continue to update you on our progress and next steps.

Please feel free to contact me at 917-439-6572 or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> should you have any questions.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we maintain and upgrade Baruch’s facilities and infrastructure.

Sincerely,

Tom Gaimaro
Director, Facilities Planning, Design and Construction
