 <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=PsWoxgiDNUKqUXlPQdaOsw&ref_id=ZwPlfQChlE6bwitzQWKhzQ>

In the ongoing celebration of Black History at Baruch, President S. David Wu narrated a tribute to Dr. Weaver <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=PsWoxgiDNUKqUXlPQdaOsw&ref_id=ZwPlfQChlE6bwitzQWKhzQ> , who was appointed the first president of Baruch College in 1969. Prior to leading the College, Dr. Weaver was the first Black cabinet member in New York State and subsequently the first Black U.S. Cabinet-level secretary, appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to lead the newly created Department of Housing and Urban Development. Dr. Weaver was a leader, scholar, and educator who advanced a commitment to equity, to racial and social justice, and to the idea that, for society to succeed, everyone in it must thrive.
