Welcome to the 2023–24 Academic Year!

Nearly 2,600 first-year students joined Baruch College at Convocation on August 24. President S. David Wu, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Linda Essig, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Art King (pictured above: far right) delivered welcoming remarks to the Class of 2027. Campus continues to buzz with activity as an additional 1,500 transfer students join Baruch during our Weeks of Welcome. Wishing all Bearcats a successful semester and year!

 

Say Hello to Two New Leaders

The College is pleased to welcome Bruce W. Weber, PhD, back to Baruch as the Willem Kooyker Dean of the Zicklin School of Business, and Alaina Gilligo as the new Vice President for Operations and Administration. Both bring extensive professional experience to Baruch, and we are thrilled to welcome them to campus!

 

Together We Are Unstoppable: Strategic Plan 2023–28 to Launch

The Baruch community is invited to attend the kickoff of the College’s Strategic Plan 2023–28 on Thursday, Aug. 31. This is a historic moment—as President Wu launches his first five-year roadmap for the College’s future. The festivities will be held in the Simon Conference Room, Newman Vertical Campus (NVC), Room 14-220, 11 am–12:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Academic Momentum

To graduate on time and, in some cases, retain financial aid, most full-time students should plan to take at least 30 credits per academic year. Chart your course to on-time graduation.

 

Excelsior Scholarships: Open for New Applicants

Students whose families make up to $125,000 annually can apply for tuition-free college through New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship Program. New applicants can apply for 2023–24 through this Thursday, Aug. 31.

 

File Your FAFSA Form

File the 2023–24 FAFSA for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 terms. Obtain or retrieve your Federal Student Aid ID to sign electronically. Baruch’s Federal Code is 007273. The NYS TAP (NY residents only) code is 1409.

 

Support from the Counseling Center

The Baruch College Counseling Center offers free and confidential services. Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed counseling and psychological services, the Counseling Center assists students in achieving their academic and personal goals.

  • Individual Counseling: Please visit the Counseling Center’s website or email [log in to unmask].
  • Group Counseling: Two sessions of Relationship to Self and Others meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1–2 pm. To participate on Tuesdays (on Zoom), email [log in to unmask]; to participate on Thursdays (in-person), email [log in to unmask].
  • BIPOC Relationship to Self and Others Counseling Group: In-person at the Counseling Center, Tuesdays, 1–2 pm. To participate, email [log in to unmask].
  • Coping Skills Group: This group focuses on building skills to cope with everyday stressors that impact our mental health and wellbeing. On Wednesdays, 11 am to noon, via Zoom. To participate, email [log in to unmask].
  • Black Mental Health Matters Support Sessions foster and support the growth, networking, collaboration, success, and wellbeing of Black students. Past topics include self-care during the pandemics (Covid-19 and racism), being Black at Baruch, intersecting identities, and more. Starting on Sept. 29: Fridays, 2–3 pm via Zoom. Bearcat Food Pantry

The Bearcat Food Pantry, located inside the BOSS (Baruch One Stop Shop) in NVC Room 1-116, provides students faced with food insecurity access to healthy and nutritious food. Learn more and make an appointment.
