Improving Elevator Service in the Information and Technology Building (ITB):
Early Morning Power Shutdowns on Wednesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 31

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As part of Baruch College’s ongoing facilities upgrades, we will be replacing critical parts of the Information and Technology Building (ITB) power system, which supplies electricity to the building’s elevators. Two shutdowns are required to complete this work, with each shutdown impacting half of the entire building.

Planned for off-hours to minimize disruption, this work is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 31, from 5 am to 8 am.

What to You Need to Know

  * Desktop Computers: ITB occupants should save work on their computers prior to both shutdowns, whether working remotely or onsite, and expect that computers in the ITB will not be available during the shutdowns.

  * Building Closures: The entire building will be closed to all students, faculty, and staff during each power shutdown.
  * Elevators: ITB elevators 1, 2, 3, and 7 will be offline beginning with the first shutdown and remain offline through the second shutdown, from May 24–31. Elevators 4, 5, and 8 will remain operational and serve all floors. (Elevator 6 is still under construction.)
  * Other North Campus Buildings: The other North Campus buildings will not be affected.

Please reach out to me<mailto:[log in to unmask]> if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we modernize and upgrade Baruch’s campus.

Sincerely,

Tom Gaimaro

Director, Facilities Planning and Construction
