Baruch College Fund Raises $1.6 Million at Annual Bernard Baruch Dinner

New records were set for attendance (more than 500 guests), alumni representation (more than 160), and fundraising ($1.6 million to support the College!) at last week’s Bernard Baruch Dinner.   • Congratulations to Mariia Mohyla (MS ’24), Hyejin Ryoo (MS ’24), Poulomi Tarania (MS ’24), and Qi Xia (’23) on winning this year’s Baruch College Data Challenge with Pitney Bowes.
  • Elena Chang, EMSIOP candidate, was promoted to Managing Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives at the Theatre Communications Group (TCG).
  • Meet graduate research assistant Minji Ham (MPA 23), who is working with Marxe Professor Neil Hernandez on his U.S. asylum system research project.

  • Five Baruch alumnae were among the 50 women named to City & State’s 2023 Above & Beyond: Women list. Kudos to Karen Boykin-Towns (EMBA 93), Andria Castellanos (MBA 84), Vanessa Gibson (MPA 09), Kim Ramos (’98), and Rosemarie Sinclair (85).
  • Jaleel Thomas (’20), community advocate and founder of Belauded, an emerging global platform for Black designer fashion, reflects on his Baruch experience and offers advice to first-year Bearcats.

Think Global, Party Local was the theme of this year’s Spring Fling, which featured games, live music, and international foods galore. Held last Thursday afternoon, the event drew big crowds on the Clivner=Field Plaza—and lots of engagement across numerous social platforms that covered it. Thanks go to President Wu and the Undergraduate Student Government for hosting!

File the 2023–24 FAFSA for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 terms. Obtain or retrieve your Federal Student Aid ID to sign electronically. Baruch’s Federal Code is 007273. The NYS TAP (NY residents only) code is 1409.

 

Support from the Counseling Center

The Baruch College Counseling Center offers free and confidential services. Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed counseling and psychological services, the Counseling Center assists students in achieving their academic and personal goals.

  • BIPOC Relationship to Self and Others Counseling Group: In-person at the Counseling Center, Tuesdays, 1–2 pm. To participate, email [log in to unmask].
  • Coping Skills Group: Using evidence-based and mindfulness practices, this group focuses on building skills to cope with everyday stressors. On Wednesdays, 11 am to noon, via Zoom. To participate, email [log in to unmask].
