With the generous support of the CUNY Black, Race and Ethnic Studies Initiative (BRESI) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation<https://www.cuny.edu/academics/current-initiatives/bresi/>, the Baruch College Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives (ODCEI) has been hosting lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings during the 2022–23 academic year. The film showcases South African musician and human rights activist Miriam Makeba and how she fought racism and poverty while promoting peace and social justice.

After the screening, Yvette Christiansë, PhD, Professor of English and Africana Studies at Barnard College, will discuss the film with Diarah N'Daw-Spech, MBA, ArtMattan Productions/NYADIFF, and our audience.
