President Wu Interviewed on NY1 and Featured in City & State

This morning, President S. David Wu was interviewed live on NY1’s Mornings On 1 program with the veteran anchor Pat Kiernan. The segment aired at 9:30 am and 11:30 am and can be viewed here.

President Wu was invited to appear after being named to City & State’s “50 Over 50” list, which honors “leaders who have amassed a list of accomplishments over the course of their entire careers.” Within that auspicious list, President Wu was selected among the 10 Lifetime Achievement Honorees who were recognized at a gala last night at Sony Hall.

Wu said the rapid response was a “testament to the resilience of our people.” He described how Baruch has “excellent and talented people who are committed to the mission, and they really turned on a dime” to enact a fully virtual campus environment. Kiernan and Wu also discussed the post-pandemic potential for hybrid learning, which President Wu referred to as Baruch’s “boundless campus,” an environment that features a “fluid mix” of different instruction modalities, the city as a classroom, and international study.

In discussing Baruch’s legendary diversity, President Wu described the “immense value to our society when more people, regardless of their backgrounds, have access to an excellent education.”

“The world is rethinking how organizations are run and what people can contribute to the new way forward. With the old norms disrupted, Baruch is creating the workforce of the future—one that increasingly values diversity, fresh perspectives, and a broad spectrum of experiences.”
