Public Safety Giveaway Sweetens Valentine’s Day 2023

It was great to see so many students stop by the Public Safety station for a Valentine’s Day treat! Six Weissman students, led by Professor of Biology Stephen Gosnell, contributed to “Finding a Place for Panthers: Mapping Conservation Issues Related to Florida Panthers,” an article that appeared in Lessons in Conservation.
Arash Lahijani (’24) was profiled on CNBC for his video game side hustle. He has earned more than $62,000 writing character backstories for the video game Grand Theft Auto.
In this month’s Marxe Student Spotlight, meet Malik James (MPA ’24), who plans to use his degree to better understand how to increase the affordability and availability of housing in New York City.

Carla Anne Robbins, Marxe Professor and Faculty Director of the Master of International Affairs program, co-hosts “The World Next Week,” a weekly podcast for the Council on Foreign Relations that explores global headlines and international developments. The most recent edition delves into the aftermath of the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
Meet Mahima Hada, Associate Professor of Marketing and Director of Marketing Analytics Programs at the Zicklin School, in the latest installment of the Why Zicklin video series.

Academic Momentum

To graduate on time and, in some cases, retain financial aid, most full-time students should plan to take at least 30 credits per academic year. Chart your course to on-time graduation.

FAFSA Resources and News

FAFSA: The Guide: Understanding FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
File the 2023–24 FAFSA for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 terms. Obtain or retrieve your Federal Student Aid ID to sign electronically. If you are a dependent, one parent will need an ID to sign too. Baruch’s Federal Code is 007273. The NYS TAP (NY residents only) code is 1409.

The Hult Prize Competition—called the Nobel Prize for Students—challenges young people to solve the planet's most pressing issues. The Baruch College Counseling Center offers free and confidential services. Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed counseling and psychological services, the Counseling Center assists students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
