Planned Power Shutdown at the Information and Technology Building This Weekend, November 5–6

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As part of Baruch College’s ongoing technology upgrades, we have scheduled a power shutdown this weekend in the Information and Technology Building (ITB) for Saturday, November 5, from 6 pm through Sunday, November 6, at 2 am. This outage will allow us to perform critical maintenance to the system that supplies electricity to the building.

Please note that the Information and Technology Building—home of the Newman Library and Kaplan Computing and Technology Center, among other facilities—will be closed during this time and access will not be granted to students, faculty, and staff.

What to Expect

We have planned this work for off-hours to minimize disruptions.

ITB occupants should save work on their computers prior to the shutdown whether working remotely or onsite and expect that computers in the ITB will not be available during the shutdown. BCTC has configured computers to restart automatically when power is restored, but there may be some computers that do not come up normally. In those cases, Public Safety will have to restart them manually.

Please note that this shutdown will not affect the online library systems, and computers located in other Baruch buildings should not be affected.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Sincerely,

Tom Gaimaro

Director, Facilities Planning and Construction
