UN Holds Climate Week NYC Event at Baruch

Baruch College kicked off the United Nations Climate Week NYC by hosting the UN Development Programme’s Peoples’ Climate Vote Live NYC event, which included a discussion from an expert panel on how to empower young people to take action. The event also featured the largest public opinion poll on how to tackle the global climate emergency with input from 1.2 million people around the world.

 

Strategic Planning for Baruch’s Future

As part of the College’s strategic planning process, last week’s Appreciative Inquiry Summit brought together more than 100 students, faculty, and staff to share perspectives and articulate strengths of and aspirations for the College.

  • In his first blog post of the academic year, “Creating Our Shared Narrative by Understanding Who We Are,” President S. David Wu shares key takeaways from a multi-stakeholder survey about the College and asks the Baruch community to further the conversation.

FAFSA Resources & News

  • FAFSA: The Guide: Understanding FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Save time, money, and stress.
  • Apply for the Financial Aid You Deserve: Starting Saturday, Oct. 1 students can file the 2023-24 FAFSA for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. Obtain a Federal Student Aid ID to sign electronically. If you are a dependent, one parent will need an ID to sign as well. Baruch’s Federal Code is 007273. The NYS TAP (NY residents only) code is 1409.

 

Support from the Counseling Center

The Baruch College Counseling Center offers free and confidential services. Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed counseling and psychological services, the Counseling Center assists students in achieving their academic and personal goals.

  • Individual Counseling: Please visit the Counseling Center’s website and click on the “Make an Appointment” button or email [log in to unmask].
  • Group Counseling: Two sessions of Relationship to Self and Others meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1–2 pm on Zoom. To participate in the Tuesday group, email [log in to unmask]; to participate in the Thursday group, email [log in to unmask].
  • Black Mental Health Matters Support Sessions: These sessions foster and support the growth, networking, collaboration, success, and well-being of Black students. Fridays, 2–3 pm via Zoom. To participate, students should send an email to [log in to unmask] from their Baruch student email account.
  • Depression Screening Day: Tuesday, Oct. 11, noon–2 pm. Stop by the Counseling Center Depression Screening table on the Clivner=Field Plaza to complete a quick screening form and then meet briefly with a Counseling Center staff member. More information here.
