THIS WEEK @ BARUCH  |  9.1.22

Welcome to the 2022–23 Academic Year!

  • President S. David Wu ushered in the new semester with a message celebrating our return to more in-person vibrancy and a video welcoming all of our students back to campus that showcases such new resources as the Baruch One Stop Shop.
  • More than 2,600 students—the largest first-year class ever—joined the College during Convocation on August 23. Daphne Palasi Andreades (’15), Baruch alumna and author of Brown Girls, which was selected as the first-year text, delivered the keynote address. Read the full story.
  • Visit Baruch Forward and CUNY’s Covid-19 Information page to stay up to date on safe campus guidance, policies, and support.

Student and Faculty Accolades

  • Amiyah Young and Alexandra Acevedo (both Class of ’23) were selected for the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF REU) program to investigate climate justice in New York City and obesity and nutrition in Costa Rica, respectively.
  • Nine students were awarded Gilman International Scholarships to study abroad this semester.
  • Rojo Robles, associate professor of Black and Latino Studies at the Weissman School, was named a 2022 Summer Faculty Fellow at the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute for Higher Education.

Happy 90th Anniversary to The Ticker

Congratulations to The Ticker on its 90th year of continuous production! To celebrate this milestone, several former staff members whose careers were shaped by their experiences at the independent, student-run newspaper were profiled.

Stay Connected
