February 1, 2022 February Is Black History Month Dear Baruch College Students and Colleagues: The Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives (ODCEI) celebrates Black History Month 2022 and recognizes the efforts of the U.S. government to pay tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in the United States of America. Additionally, ODCEI applauds the efforts of NYC, NYS, and U.S. government agencies to focus national attention on the rich cultures, traditions, and histories of the diverse communities of the African Diaspora. 2022 Theme: Black Health and Wellness Established in 1915, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) chronicles the history of Black History Month and its associated themes. The ASALH theme for Black History Month 2022 is Black Health and Wellness—an important topic that Baruch College is promoting through its programming this month. ODCEI would like to thank the volunteers on the Black History Month Committee, as well as our colleagues from the Office of Student Life, the Division of Enrollment Management and Strategic Academic Initiatives, and the Department of Black and Latino Studies, for curating an informative calendar of events. Federal, State, and City Resources and Celebrations As part of this national celebration, the following federal, state, and city agencies, as well as national organizations, are providing information and hosting special virtual and in-person events—some of which require advanced registration.
