Announcing Baruch Forward: Fall 2020 and Beyond

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

To ready the community for the Fall 2020 semester and the new academic year, Baruch College has created the website Baruch Forward: Fall 2020 and Beyond <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=LBQZBZ0AWUeAKNuTFOxcng&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> , a one-stop resource designed to support your safety and success in the distance learning, teaching, and remote working environments. Here you can find convenient, centralized access to resources and services for navigating Baruch’s primarily virtual campus.

Baruch Forward houses the Safe Campus Plan <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=lw0YqY8r8EKRJO0apLU8OQ&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> , which was developed in accordance with CUNY Guidelines for Safe Campus Reopening, New York State Guidelines for Higher Education, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and aligns with the recommendations of the College’s Task Force for the Future <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=5Bjoi3yb5U-SAsAynr3ziQ&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> .

Here are some highlights from Baruch Forward:

Student Forward: Academic and Co-curricular Services

* The vast majority of classes for Fall 2020 will be delivered in distance learning formats with a small number of classes in hybrid formats (a mixture of distance instruction with some face-to-face instruction). Resources to support student learning and more can be found here <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=7639fbZSlUOi6ZcntsC5cQ&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> .

* Co-curricular student activities will continue to be offered in virtual formats.

* Baruch will soon be providing students access to quiet study spaces by reservation.

Campus Access and Safety Protocols

* On-campus access is extremely limited.

* Essential staff will continue to work on-site. All other faculty and staff will continue to work remotely unless they need to come to campus to perform tasks that cannot be performed off-site.

* Anyone who plans to come to campus—faculty, students, staff, and visitors—must follow a specific set of mandatory protocols <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=RCHxA3Co-0W2LGQDcHxCyQ&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> , including preapproval by completing the campus access request form <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=nTV-HMiOCUKfG_UjTLumhA&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> and are required to fill out a health screening questionnaire on the day of their visit. No one will be admitted unless they have been cleared.

* Before coming to campus for the first time, faculty and staff will be required to take a mandatory Covid-19 health training on Blackboard.

* Other mandatory protocols include wearing a face covering, maintaining social distancing, and following Public Safety staff guidance (more here <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=RCHxA3Co-0W2LGQDcHxCyQ&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> ).

* The Student Health Center, Early Learning Center, and Mail Room and Receiving are open with reduced access and hours (more here <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=xSqMgklRokKb6oi3M8iamw&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> ).

On-Campus Health and Safety

* The College is keeping the campus safe with such measures as regular and frequent cleanings and disinfection of facilities and spaces, the installation of protective shields in areas that have face-to-face encounters, and specific protocols to ensure health and safety in classrooms, elevators, hallways, restrooms, and common areas (more here <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=tnGGHHmx3E2p8T4DEhHt_w&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> ).

Moving Forward

In the next few weeks, I will be sharing details about the next phases of our evolving plans. The Baruch Forward <https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=LBQZBZ0AWUeAKNuTFOxcng&ref_id=3ClM-rGHo0WiytMp8kwTUg> website will be your central source of information and will be updated on a regular basis.

The College community stands united in our mission of providing academic excellence and supporting our students’ goals and progress in these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Katharine T. Cobb

Vice President for Administration and Finance
