The next CIDR Demography Seminar is on Friday, October 25, 2013.  

Title:  "Has Climate Change Promoted Urbanization in Sub-Saharan Africa?"
Speaker:  Adam Storeygard, Tufts University
Time: 1- 2:30 pm, Friday, October 25, 2013
Location: Room 5383, the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street.

Adam Storeygard will be at CIDR in the morning.  If you are interested in meeting him, please contact Peh Hsia, [log in to unmask], to schedule a time.  

As usual, there will also be lunch with the speaker at noon at the GC cafeteria on the 8th floor.  Fellows can also meet with Adam after the seminar to discuss his work and ask for advice about graduate school, research, job market, career, etc.

About the speaker:  Adam Storeygard is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Tufts University.  His research interests are in development and urban economics, and particularly in urbanization, transportation, and the economic geography of sub-Saharan Africa. Before graduate school he worked at Columbia University developing and analyzing spatial datasets related to health and development. Professor Storeygard's work has appeared in journals including the American Economic Review, Nature, and the Bulletin of the World Health Organization. His prior degrees are an A.B. in Physics from Harvard University, an M. Phil. in Environment and Development from Cambridge University and Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.
