A Collaboration UNICEF, a University-wide Initiative
Wanted: A Ph.D. student who is interested in coordinating a CUNY collaboration with UNICEF starting in mid-June.
The main objective of this collaboration with UNICEF is to create a contest of new and engaging proposals/ideas from CUNY students (undergraduates and graduates) to solve major challenges in under-resourced areas, including Fiji, Chile, Uganda, Haiti, and other countries to be determined.  
The purpose of this collaboration is mainly:
	to engage CUNY's unique student body in identifying problems, adapting and creating open-source solutions, and leveraging their particular geographic spread and to create solutions that are relevant, scalable and tested with end users.to connect the students to UNICEF’s vast network of knowledge and resources on the ground in over 130 countries, addressing the most pressing challenges facing children. 
	to create a sense of global collaboration around the authentic identification of challenges, engagement of end-users in producing solutions, and ability to answer those challenges in ways that can go to global scale.
The coordinator will facilitate daily work as well as support and work together with a UNICEF focal point on performing all organizational and logistical parts as well as required desk work. The identified coordinator will need to respond to daily queries and create support documentations for the project.
Duties and responsibilities
	Be the coordinator for  the CUNY-UNICEF initiative;
	Perform administrative and organizational tasks required by the initiative; 
	Work together with a UNICEF focal point on  collaboration and implementation of the CUNY-UNICEF initiative; 
	Draft requested background documentation for CUNY-UNICEF collaboration; 
	Support the development of Terms of Reference and other necessary documents;
	Create database/worksheets of CUNY-UNICEF contest participants and selection process;
	Act as a reference for CUNY internal communication with candidates of the contest;
	Produce content materials for websites, blogs, etc.;
	Monitor and follow up with all candidates of the contest as well as with potential partners;
	Plan and draft relevant content materials to be used for media/outreach purposes for the launch and promotion of the initiative;  
	Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of all deliverables meeting defined and agreed quality standards.
The coordinator will be based partially at CUNY and partially at UNICEF HQ during his/her assignment.
Skills and previous experience
	High organizational and logistical skills are required.
	Knowledge of and experience with international development is an advantage.
	Prior experience in the planning and organization of events and/or initiative. 
	Ability to coordinate and effectively communicate with external partners and candidates of the contest.
	Excellent communication and writing skills.
	Be able to work under a tight deadline.
	Familiarity with media and communications tools.

The coordinator will work for a period of 30 weeks (there is a possibility of an extension) starting June 15th or soon after, for an average of 12 hours a week at $20 an hour.
