"Challenges Facing the European Union: Perspectives from the Austrian
Presidency"

Ambassador Gerhard Pfanzelter, the permanent representative of Austria to
the United Nations, will provide his perspective on major issues currently
facing the European Union, including the future of the proposed
constitutional treaty, the Union's enlargement to the south and east,
fiscal and democratic accountability issues, jobs and economic growth, and
the future of the Common Agricultural Policy. Ambassador Pfanzelter will
be joined by Professor Willem Maas of New York University. This Mitsui
(USA) Lunch-Time Forum is presented with the Europe Society.

"The Role of Hedge Funds in the Global Economy"

Larry Simon '65, Vice Chairman of Ivy Asset Management Corp., will provide
audience members with a better understanding of the size, number, and
investment styles of hedge funds, and their interactions with global
financial markets. The program will also provide a review of the present
state of hedge fund supervision and regulation, and assess proposals for
regulating hedge funds more closely. In addition, Mr. Simon will give
students the opportunity to learn how he built a successful hedge fund and
to hear first-hand what the challenges, obstacles, and opportunities were
along the way.

Please note: On April 25th it was announced that Tony Petrokonis of SPA
won a Service Excellence Award that recognized his outstanding
performance. Tony has worked for Baruch for 28 years, not the 18 years
that was initially reported.
