EPA Audit Results Announcement

The EPA audit for Baruch College has been completed, and the results are
very good. The final number of violations will be determined over the next
few months, however, we believe that any violations issued will primarily
be due to incorrect record keeping procedures that date back as long as
ten years ago. No e-waste was found (outdated/unplugged electronic
equipment and components, e.g., monitors, keyboards, circuit boards,
testing equipment).

The success of this audit is due to a lot of hard work on the part of
Facilities, BCTC, and all of Baruch. With only a few months to prepare for
this audit, the results speak to the amount of effort put into our
compliance program. In particular, we would like to thank Frank Antonucci
and his Facilities team and Art Downing and his technology organization
for their dedication and hard work in getting this campus ready for the
audit.

Although the audit is complete, it is imperative that we remain in
compliance on a day-to-day basis. Unannounced audits are a possibility in
the future, so please ensure that your area remains in compliance
concerning the following:

E-waste
Used toner cartridges (that have not been recycled)
Unlabeled containers of liquid (this includes water, dish soap, etc.)
Labeled containers of liquid (that do not have either a lid or cap)
Used batteries (loose batteries not in their original packaging)
Fluorescent lighting tubes and bulbs (uninstalled, not in their original
packaging)
Unapproved pesticides (at Baruch only a licensed and approved contractor
is authorized to apply pesticides)

If you have any questions about the audit results or other campus
compliance concerns, please feel free to contact either Jim Lloyd or Steve
Wu.
