Geolinguistics and the Teaching of Foreign Languages
Date/Time: Thursday, September 29, 9:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Scholars from the US and abroad will come to Baruch to attend the 6th
international conference sponsored by the American Society of
Geolinguistics that will analyze the geolinguistic, political, and
pedagogical aspects of foreign language teaching, especially in terms of
international relations and national security. Baruch faculty and students
are welcome to attend.

New York Real Estate Markets: A Bubble?

A professional analysis of whether there is a bubble in New York real
estate markets; a joint program with the New York Metropolitan Chapter of
the Appraisal Institute featuring speaker Mark Pomykacz, president, MAI
New York Metropolitan Chapter.

Desi Welcome Party
Date/Time: Friday, September 30, 6:00 p.m.

Multi-Purpose Room 1st Floor
Admission: Free (Please bring college ID)
This free, annual event is hosted by the United Sikh Association and
features music and dance performances by various teams from different
colleges, as well as Baruch. Any proceeds collected through voluntary
admission will go to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

CUNY Women’s Volleyball: Baruch vs. City Tech
Date/Time: Tuesday, October 4, 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Admission: Free
The Baruch women’s volleyball team seeks to capture the 2005 CUNYAC
Volleyball Championships and the prestigious NCAA Division III berth. The
contest against City Tech is an important conference match that will serve
to prepare the team for the conference tournament at the end of this
month.
