It is with great pleasure that I write today to announce the appointment of Lisa Poullard-
Burton as the College’s new Director of Alumni Relations. As you know, we conducted a
nationwide search to find exactly the right person to fill this vital position. Over the next few
years, the Baruch College strategic plan calls for creating and fostering an extensive alumni
network, one that will help us extend the Baruch identity and establish a lasting partnership
between current and past generations of Baruch students. Lisa, an alumna herself (BA ’90),
with a major in Business Journalism and Communications, is ideally suited to take up this
challenge.

Lisa comes to us from the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, where, for the
past five years, she served as director of Development and Alumni Relations for the College
of Pharmacy. There, drawing on a population of only 8,650 alumnae, Lisa raised $470,000 in
new scholarship funds.

Prior to joining LIU, Lisa had already acquired a broad background with a variety of
community organizations. She worked with the H.E.L.P Human Services Corp., where she
served as special assistant to Andrew Cuomo. While still a student, she served as an assistant
for Manhattan’s Community Board 6, where she acted as a liaison between city agencies and
the public. Lisa has also worked in the press office at WABC-TV and coordinator at the Small
Business Lab of Medgar Evers College.

Somehow, while pursuing her career, Lisa found the time to earn a Master of Public
Administration degree from LIU in 2004 and to contribute to numerous professional and
volunteer associations.

Lisa Poullard-Burton will take up her duties at Baruch on June 1, 2005, serving under VP
David Gallagher in the Office of College Advancement. I hope we will all welcome her as she
reacquaints herself with her alma mater and builds bridges between our past and our future.
