Baruch College Entrepreneurship Competition Kickoff on Sept 10

This fall we begin the fifth year of the annual Baruch College
Entrepreneurship Competition. During the last four years, nearly 1,000
students have participated, five businesses have been started and are still
in operation, and three more are likely to open within a year. This year,
Merrill Lynch is joining the competition as an active supporter and we are
adding a parallel high school component with teams selected from those
schools that have Virtual Enterprise programs.

Our September through May competition, open to Baruch students from all
three schools, provides an extraordinary opportunity for students to gain
experience relevant to their future careers, meet with and receive guidance
from distinguished business professionals, and possibly win one of the cash
prizes or even seed money. This year's college prizes are $10,000, $5,000,
$2,500, and $1,000 for the first, second, third, and honorable mention
winning teams respectively. Seed money can be as much as $50,000.

We encourage students to come to the competition kickoff Friday, September
10, in VC14-220, beginning at 12 noon, for an overview of the competition
and to meet many of our mentors, judges, and fellow participants. For
additional information, visit www.baruch.cuny.edu/bcec. Students who can't
make the kickoff still may participate in the competition by registering
on-line on the web site.
