WWW.SUPPORTCUNY.ORG GIVES YOU A VOICE
AGAINST CUTS TO FINANCIAL AID AND CUNY'S BUDGET

Washington has proposed the largest reduction to federal student loan
programs in history. Albany is also proposing cutting tuition assistance
and the CUNY budget.

We need the Baruch community to demand our fair share of funding from the
federal and state governments. Now is the time because our elected
officials are negotiating changes to these federal and state budget
proposals.

On the Support CUNY Web site you can e-mail your views immediately to your
elected officials on the higher education portions of the proposed House
reconciliation bill and the New York State Executive Budget. This is
urgent. 40,000 CUNY students who already face financial hardships as they
work and support families will be affected by the proposed changes to the
student loan programs.

At the State level, the Governor's budget calls for a reduction in overall
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The proposed TAP reduction hits CUNY
students the hardest. The Governor's budget also shortchanges CUNY. If
left unchallenged, tuition would have to increase for full-time resident
undergraduate students.

Please log on to <http://www.supportcuny.org> to urge our legislators to
maintain tuition where it is, fully fund the CUNY budget, restore Tuition
Assistance (TAP) funds, and increase funds for building projects. You will
find background information on the budget, pre-written and pre-addressed
e-mail messages for you to send to your legislators, and sample letters if
you prefer to write your own. Support CUNY is paid for by private funds.

Last year, students, faculty, alumni, parents, civic, business, and labor
leaders sent over 400,000 e-mails to ask for public college's fair share
of funding. Let's keep pressuring Washington and Albany to support what's
important to us and to CUNY's future.

Thank you for logging on to <http://www.supportcuny.org> to help yourself
and Baruch.
