1. CUNY CAMPAIGN

Dear Friends,

We are now in the homestretch of this yearÕs CUNY Campaign. The
campaign closes on Friday, December 20, and we are close to our
goal of $15,000. If you havenÕt already given, you can ensure the
campaignÕs success by pledging now.

Many Baruch employees have given quite generously to the campaign.
One faculty member, alone, contributed nearly 10 percent of our
campus goal. More than twenty members of our Buildings and
Grounds staff contributed to the campaign, earning that department
the distinction of having the highest percentage of givers. And many
other employees have made one-time gifts or have elected to give
through payroll deductions.

If you havenÕt contributed to the campaign, will you please consider
joining your colleagues who have? Baruch will only meet its goal if
more employees give. The amount of the gift is not nearly as
important as the decision to give.

More than a thousand organizations, including our own Baruch
College Fund, benefit from the CUNY Campaign. These
organizations build a better life for us allÑmany by serving the people
of New York, others by helping people elsewhere in the country and
the world.

When giving, you may choose to make an unrestricted gift to the
campaign or to designate up to four recipient organizations. Either
way, your donation will help these agencies continue their important
work.

If you need a campaign brochure or pledge form, please contact me.
IÕll be happy to provide one.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

 2. SUBOTNICK CENTER

Seasons Greetings from the Subotnick Financial Services Center!

Since our March 2000 opening, the Subotnick Financial Services
Center has been used for over 100 class meetings of more than 40
undergraduate and masters level courses in departments ranging
from Finance to Business
Journalism to Marketing.

The first 75 minute Reuters seminar of the January intersession is
Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2:30pm. Have your students sign up via our
website http://aux.zicklin.baruch.cuny.edu/sfsc or simply go to
www.baruch.cuny.edu click on Centers, then Subotnick. The faculty
using SFSC for teaching are listed under the "classes" link on our
website.

To maximize the educational value of the center, we would like to
support you and your students in any way we can. We have worked
with faculty to develop in-class exercises and homework assignments
based on the center's:

-live and historic news stories as well as market data
-built in, ready to complete, student spreadsheet assignments (we
have the answer key)
-analytic tools in Microsoft, Excel and SAS
-company research reports and accounting data
-several trading simulations, plus one that uses actual pricedata

Our information sources are "downloadable"; students can create
their own data files and analyze them later away from the Center.

Easy to use help screens will have you and your students actively
using Reuters, First Call, and other programs within 5 minutes.

We have plenty of available time slots for 2003 class sessions (view
our online calendar from the "calendar" link on the SFSC website
above), and we'd like you to build one or more Subotnick Center
sessions into your course syllabus. Contact us to learn how to
integrate the Subotnick Center into your lectures and class
assignments.

The SFSC staff looks forward to seeing you soon!

Cheers,

Christopher B.Ruemke
