With the start of the new fiscal year, I would like to share with you an
easier, faster, and cheaper way to purchase a desktop or notebook PC for
college use.

New York State has negotiated extraordinary discounts with Dell that will
not only save the college money, but also help us meet our annual
productivity savings target. For example, a standard desktop computer
with a Pentium D 820 2.8 GHz processor, 1.0 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive, and
17" flat panel monitor is available for $675.

If you plan to purchase a computer, you should start by visiting the
following special web page:

http://premier.dell.com/portal/standardconfig.aspx?c=US&l=en&s=slg&cs=RC1035034

This page will allow you to customize the specifications, but if you do
so, you need to update the price via the button at the bottom of the page.
You should generate a detailed e-quote, list the e-quote number and the
New York State Microcomputer Contract # PT55666 (Dell Contract # 70572) on
the purchase requisition, and submit the e-quote to the Purchasing
Department as an attachment to your requisition.

For assistance with developing the specifications for your purchase,
please contact the technology coordinator in your department or school or
call the BCTC help desk at 646-312-1010.

These instructions are also posted on the BCTC web site under "Computer
Purchase". For discounts on PCs for your personal ownership, please visit
the CUNY eMall.
