Dear Instructors,
The Baruch College Bookstore would like to thank everyone who assisted us in
making our spring 2006 back-to-school rush a success. We believe this is
partially due to the early submission of many textbook orders as well as the
new financial aid voucher program which enables students with financial aid
to go ahead and purchase their required textbooks without delay at the
beginning of the semester.
Once again we must turn our focus to the upcoming Summer 2006 semesters and
we need your help. As you know one of the greatest concerns of our students
is the rising cost of textbooks. To help keep the cost of textbooks
manageable we make every effort to stock our shelves with as many copies of
less expensive used books as possible. Submitting your book requests by
April 1st or as early as possible before final exams (May 18th) will go a
long way toward assisting us in acquiring the majority of our used books
from our students. This will also give them the best value for their books
when they sell them back at the end of this semester. Even if we are unable
to obtain the quantity of books we need to supply for your summer course(s)
from Baruch students, having your book lists early will allow us the time
necessary to search for additional used books through the used book market.
Please continue to submit your book requests as early as possible.
To submit your book requests you are welcome to reply to this message to
[log in to unmask] with the list of required and recommended texts you
would like to use for your course(s). For your convenience you may also
phone them in to 646-312-4857, fax them to 212-679-2014, submit them online
at www.baruch.bkstr.com (use pass code 540), or stop by the store and drop
them off in person. A similar memo and blank adoption forms were also
recently distributed to the campus mailboxes of those scheduled to teach
during the summer so you may also fill out those forms and return them if
you choose. Providing as much of the following information as possible on
your order forms is appreciated and will also help avoid delays:
Course and section number and enrollment estimate.
Reliable contact information, including phone number(s) and E-mail address.
Author, title, ISBN, edition and publisher of each assigned book.
Required or optional status of each assigned book
PLEASE NOTE: It is essential that requests for all Cases and/or Review
Articles be submitted at least 4 to 6 weeks before they will be needed for
use in class. Custom Course Packs require 6 to 8 weeks.
Also, please let us know if you will not be using any texts this semester.
This way we can make this information available for your students on the
shelf tag for your course and on our website.
The bookstore is also excited to extend an invitation to all faculty members
who have Authored or co/Authored a book. If you would like the bookstore to
have copies available in our Faculty Authors section please submit all
relevant book information such as, Author, Title, Edition and/or ISBN to the
bookstore and we will gladly make your book(s) available.
Let us work together in keeping the cost of textbooks manageable for our
students. As always we appreciate your attention to this matter. Please do
not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Your Textbook Staff:
Eric Irwin Arnold Joseph Clive White
