Sr. Administrator Has Tested Positive for COVID-19

Dear Baruch College Community:

I write to inform you that a member of the Baruch College administration notified me today that they have tested positive for COVID-19. Our colleague is recovering at home and our thoughts and best wishes are with that individual.

Our colleague first developed symptoms on Monday, March 9th, and worked until Wednesday, March 11th. We are contacting all the staff with whom this person may have had contact last week when they were at higher risk of being contagious. Following the established protocol, all those who have had contact with the individual will be asked to self-quarantine and monitor their health for 14 days.

For the rest of the Baruch community, the risk is low. As a precaution, however, we will close two buildings tomorrow for additional deep cleaning and disinfection: the Steven L. Newman Hall (137 East 22nd Street) and the Administration Building (135 East 22nd Street).

As we have previously stated, if you are sick, please contact your healthcare provider. If you do not have a healthcare provider, please call 311. Students who experience symptoms such as a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing or shortness of breath should also contact Dean of Students Art King at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Faculty and staff who experience these symptoms should contact Human Resources Executive Director Andrea Caviness at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

We will continue to keep you updated regarding additional developments. Please continue to check Baruch's COVID-19 Updates webpage<https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=1O_prxgfnU-OIukjYjqq2Q&ref_id=g27OUPe8DEuaB4a1EMvdRg> for the latest information as well as CUNY's website<https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/> for University-wide updates.

Sincerely,

Mitchel B. Wallerstein, PhD
President, Baruch College
