Dear Colleagues:

A national search for the next president of Baruch College of The City University of New York has begun.

Ranked No. 1 in the Northeast and No. 4 in the U.S. among Public Institutions by Forbes on its "America's Best Value Colleges in 2019" list, Baruch College traces its roots back to the 1847 founding of the Free Academy, the first free public higher education institution in the country.

Serving over 18,000 undergraduates and graduate students, Baruch has been a stepping stone to success for generations of New Yorkers. Through its three schools-the Zicklin School of Business, the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences-Baruch provides world-class business and administration management programs with a comprehensive liberal arts education.

Baruch provides rich internship, career and networking opportunities for its students. The college also plays a pivotal role in the economic development of New York City and State, offering a wide range of post-degree training to professionals, and consultations for businesses, nonprofit organizations and governmental entities.

The confirmed members of the Baruch Presidential Search committee to date are:

· Honorable Barry Schwartz, Committee Chair and Vice Chair of the CUNY Board of Trustees

· Honorable Mayra Linares-Garcia, Member, CUNY Board of Trustees

· Honorable Charles Shorter, Member, CUNY Board of Trustees

· Dr. Russell Hotzler, President, New York City College of Technology/CUNY

· Dr. Nancy Aries, Professor, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs/Baruch

· Dr. Samuel Johnson, Professor, Psychology & University Faculty Senate/Baruch

· Dr. Terrence Martell, Professor, Economics and Finance/Baruch

· Mr. Max Berger, Founding Partner, Bernstein, Litowitz, Berger & Grossman, Alumni Representative

· Ms. Dakshatha Daggala, Undergraduate Student Representative/Baruch

· Mr. Kyle Roberts, Graduate Student Representative/Baruch

· Ms. Judy Bergtraum, Senior Vice Chancellor for Facilities Planning, Construction & Management/CUNY

The committee is being assisted by the search firm Witt/Kieffer. Some members of the search committee, including the Chair-Trustee Schwartz and Trustees Linares-Garcia and Shorter-and the search consultants Robin Mamlet and Kim Brettschneider were on campus on Wednesday, May 22, and met with various representatives from across the college. Their goal is to become deeply informed about Baruch's culture, strengths, priorities and opportunities, which will assist the committee in establishing the criteria for candidates.

To assist with this effort, an electronic survey-https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BaruchPresident -has been developed through which the Baruch community can submit its input and recommend candidates for the committee's consideration.

Ms. Kenya Lee, the Baruch president's chief of staff ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) / 646-312-3322), is serving as the search liaison and will be distributing the survey to the college community.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful participation in this search. This is an exciting moment in the history of the college. We are grateful for your time and support as we set out to identify the eighth president of Baruch College who will continue to move the institution to even greater success.

Sincerely,
