Updates on Construction and Renovation at Baruch College

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I write to provide the Baruch community with an update on recent construction and several renovation projects taking place around the College.

Clivner=Field Plaza
Utility work, which includes steam, gas, and water main upgrades, is mostly complete, with the exception of the street intersections for Third and Lexington avenues. The next phase of the project will encompass above-ground work, including sidewalks, pavers, light poles, and seating. Currently, the contractor is installing foundations for lighting poles and low seating walls, as well as street lighting conduits. The contractor is also continuing to remove the granite seating foundation on the plaza.

Due to the unanticipated complexity of the below-ground utilities work for the Clivner=Field Plaza, the projected March completion date has been pushed out to November 2020. Please visit the Clivner=Field Plaza webpage<https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=8WIefIsXXk2JvFkprXupwA&ref_id=IdEPLcVHYEyisdSg7cEt2g> for an archive of photos and updates.
Renovation of the Field Building at 17 Lexington Avenue
We're happy to announce the unveiling of the building's new elevator lobby. We've removed the construction wall, which gives a view of the building's latest finishes. These include new arched glass walls, ceilings, granite benches, and an expansive elevator lobby that will reduce overcrowding. This is an exciting milestone and we are thrilled to have this space available to the campus community.

We are also working to complete the renovated Lexington Avenue main lobby entrance, which will be ADA-accessible. This work will be finished later this spring. Please visit the 17 Lex project webpage<https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=iw-8EaAygke4sXibG_E44w&ref_id=IdEPLcVHYEyisdSg7cEt2g> for additional information.

In addition, a temporary roof has been installed at 17 Lex over two roof areas and the connecting bridge roofs on the 16th floor. Once the warmer weather arrives, a permanent roof will be installed.

While a project of this scale brings unavoidable disruptions and inconvenience, please be aware that the College continuously strives to mitigate any issues-both proactively, and as they arise unexpectedly. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we advance this necessary work.

Sidewalk Scaffolding Installation on South Campus
Building façade inspections are required to be performed every five years under the Local Law 11. The scaffolding for this inspection is installed and repairs will commence once the façade inspection is complete.
Information and Technology Building
The terrazzo flooring in front of the elevators on the 7th floor has been installed and polished. Subsequently, the stone and tile wall base will be reinstalled, which will complete all contractor work on the 7th floor.

On the 2nd floor, scaffolding has been installed to begin restoring sun-damaged wood panels. This process involves removing the original finish, re-staining, and sealing the panels. The work, including the removal of the scaffolding, is expected to be completed in the next few months.

The Allen G. and Mary E. Aaronson Student Center
We remain on track to open the Aaronson Student Center, located in the historic Madison Square Station Post Office, for the Spring 2020 semester. A portion of the 24th Street post office will be built out to serve as Baruch's student center lobby with an elevator and stairs leading to the 5,500-square-foot sub-ground-level space. The Aaronson Student Center will house a large multipurpose space, a lounge area, and meeting rooms.

Baruch Buzzes with Improvements
The Office of Campus Facilities is working with CUNY and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York on a myriad of upcoming mechanical and utility systems upgrade projects. Baruch also has many internal campus projects planned. Stay tuned for exciting information and updates in the months to come!

Thank you for your interest, continued patience, and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Larry Manganello
Assistant Vice President for Campus Facilities
