Reassuring the Baruch Community: Safe Campus Management and Updates

Dear Baruch Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we all hear news about universities and colleges making adjustments because of rising cases of Covid-19, we remind you that Baruch has strong protocols in place and a markedly different campus situation.

Please be assured that we continue to monitor community and campus transmissions closely and will follow our Campus Reopening Plan<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu/safe-campus-reopening-plan/> to reduce capacity, if such action is deemed necessary by the CUNY Chancellor, informed by guidance from the CDC and New York health agencies. You may also visit CUNY’s Covid-19 Safety Tracker<https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/#tracker> to monitor the case count at Baruch and other CUNY campuses.

Covid-19 Reporting and Contact-Tracing Protocols
Baruch and CUNY have protocols in place for students, faculty, and staff who have Covid-19 symptoms<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cdc.gov_coronavirus_2019-2Dncov_symptoms-2Dtesting_symptoms.html&d=DwIGaQ&c=mRWFL96tuqj9V0Jjj4h40ddo0XsmttALwKjAEOCyUjY&r=QqGTWwETQPvT5sKM_15AhgZVFGrfUAO5RzyvaZkerC-6Ja8boJ6WjQigKSMIL4YJqULuWUr9n6RTlWGcZbXPDg&m=x_h5-qWiEKtNTmE-xRhADlJ7duw3mLSNH1GZHfApA_U&s=HkQe-wp6hpPcuhWfIrqr00K0hgqrA1XPqbEQjapgcYY&e= >, a positive Covid-19 test result, or who have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for Covid-19. Our designated Coronavirus Campus Liaisons recently emphasized this guidance for students<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2021/12/2021-Student-Contact-Tracing-1213.pdf> and faculty and staff<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2021/12/2021-Fac-Staff-Contact-Tracing-1213.pdf>—as the reporting processes are specific to the different groups. The protocols are also summarized on these flowcharts for students<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2021/12/Student-Protocols-Reporting-Covid-Cases.pdf> and faculty and staff<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2021/12/Faculty-Staff-Protocols-Reporting-Covid-19-Cases.pdf>. Please familiarize yourself with these important guidelines.

Random Covid-19 Testing
To monitor and mitigate the spread of Covid-19, CUNY administers a random testing program for vaccinated employees and students accessing CUNY facilities. Each week, a number of randomly selected, vaccinated individuals are contacted (via email from [log in to unmask]) to be tested. If you are contacted, testing is not optional, unless you have a fully remote schedule due to a reasonable accommodation.

Stay Informed
We will continue to update you as the situation evolves, and we ask that you check Baruch Forward<https://forward.baruch.cuny.edu> regularly, as this resource is continuously updated with the latest guidelines and information pertaining to our campus community.

We wish you a safe holiday and winter break and look forward to a healthy 2022.

Sincerely,

Linda Essig
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Katharine T. Cobb
Vice President for Administration and Finance
