BCTC ALERT: Planned System Outage for Saturday, Sept. 7

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

This weekend, Computing and Information Services (CIS) at CUNY will be performing maintenance on the 57th Street data center. This necessary upgrade will affect some CUNY technology services as listed below, but the Baruch website as well as faculty, staff, and student email services will not be affected by this work.

CUNY's CIS and Facilities Planning, Construction, and Management teams have been working together to plan this power down in a way that minimizes the impact to students, faculty, and staff. Repairs are planned to occur overnight starting around 6 pm tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 7. The building engineer and electricians estimate they will need eight hours to complete their work and CIS will also need time before and after that to perform a controlled shut down and restore of all our equipment and systems.

During this time, certain critical services, such as the library systems, Filenet, and DegreeWorks/FACTS, will not be available. CUNYfirst, CUNY.edu, and Blackboard will continue to be available. A more comprehensive list of which systems will and will not be available can be found on the CUNY IT Alert<https://pmail.baruch.cuny.edu/PoliteMail/default.aspx?page=lIzT6gXmRUWQjrK0cN7K9g&ref_id=C9k1BITgkUWdsFaOxMlNYg> webpage.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we expect to fully restore all services by 2 pm on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding this necessary maintenance.

Sincerely,

Arthur Downing, PhD
Vice President for Information Services and
Dean of the Library
