Introducing the New Excelsior Scholarship Program

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As you may have heard, starting in the Fall 2017 semester, eligible New York State residents may qualify to attend CUNY and SUNY colleges tuition free through the new Excelsior Scholarship program.

To help you learn more about this exciting scholarship opportunity, CUNY has developed a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)<http://www2.cuny.edu/financial-aid/scholarships/excelsior-scholarship-faqs> webpage. In addition, the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) has updated its site with pertinent FAQs<https://www.hesc.ny.gov/pay-for-college/financial-aid/types-of-financial-aid/nys-grants-scholarships-awards/the-excelsior-scholarship>.

Some key aspects of the program:


*         Excelsior Scholarships do not cover the other costs of college attendance, such as books and supplies, fees, room and board, transportation, and meal plans.


*         Excelsior applicants are required to complete the annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA<http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/>).
