In Condemnation of Anti-Asian Hatred and Violence
Dear Baruch Community,
As the leaders of Baruch College, we are reaching out to express our sorrow and outrage as the gruesome news continues to unfold surrounding the senseless killing of six Asian women, along with two white victims, in Atlanta. While there is still a lot to be uncovered in the ongoing investigation, this horrific event comes at a time when anti-Asian discrimination and hatred has been simmering in our society-particularly since the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.
We offer condolences to the families of the victims involved, and reaffirm our union, admiration, and deep pride for Baruch's renowned diversity and our unique community that is built on equity, inclusion, and the celebration of differences.
As a campus community that actively supports its diversity-and proactively seeks ideas for improvement and feedback-the Presidential Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) launched a series of virtual community listening sessions<https://blogs.baruch.cuny.edu/listen/registration/> so our students, faculty, and staff can share their experiences and perspectives. Findings will help inform decisions, policies, processes, and changes at the College. We encourage you to sign up for a session and contribute your views and experiences.
Sincerely,
S. David Wu
