On June 8, Baruch College honored the Class of 2020 with the first-ever Virtual Commencement Experience. More than 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, and the Zicklin School of Business earned their degrees and joined the alumni community.

Highlights included remarks by President Mitchel B. Wallerstein, PhD, and valedictorian Annmarie Gajdos, both of whom extolled Baruch’s diversity. “I always thought of myself as a true New Yorker,” said Ms. Gajdos, “but I didn’t truly understand New York until I came to Baruch College . . . . You, the Class of 2020, inspired me to learn more about the world that we live in.” Read more<https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/pressroom/BaruchCollegeClass2020VirtualCommencementExperience.htm> about the event, and re-watch the Virtual Commencement Experience here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh3aAwtONO0>.

The first-place poem, Acuerdate de Mi, by Katherine Hernández (’20), is an elegy to her late grandmother, “a very strong and resilient woman who single-handedly raised her 14 children in the Dominican Republic.” Learn about the contest and read all four winning poems here<https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/pressroom/BaruchCollegeStudentsWin2020JeromeLSchulmanMemorialPoetryPrize.htm>.
